Register of Historic Places - The Edmonds Historic Preservation Commission maintains the Edmonds Register of Historic Places, listing sites that have been formally "designated" as historic places in Edmonds. There are a number of potential benefits available to properties listed on the Edmonds Register of Historic Places. Check here for a summary of these benefits, and how you can get your property listed on the Edmonds Register.

Survey of Historic Places - Edmonds has conducted a series of surveys of historic sites in the city. The first survey, focused on the downtown area, was completed by BOLA Architects in 2004-2005; the survey identified sites that are potentially eligible for listing in the Edmonds Register. A second, more wide-ranging survey was completed in 2011 by The Johnson Partnership. The latest survey was completed in 2015 by SHKS Architects and added a number of "Mid-Century" sites not previously recorded.

Other Resources - We also have a short video (4.1 MB "mov" file) explaining the Edmonds historic preservation program.

External Links and Resources -

An essential resource for historic preservation is the The Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. These standards are applied to properties listed on the City's Register of Historic Places, but also serve as a guide for sensitively treating any historic property.

A great source of information on historic preservation in Washington State is website of the Department of Archeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP).
