Meadowdale Preschool

Discontinued effective September 2024

Meadowdale Preschool FAQ

Due to significant rising operating expenses the Meadowdale Preschool Program will be discontinued after the 2023-2024 school year. Our teachers have had the most incredible experience working with youth in our community and have set up hundreds of students up for success in kindergarten and beyond. The Edmonds Parks, Recreation and Human Services Department would like to thank the program staff for their wonderful impact on this program and its students.

Q: Why is the program being cancelled?

A: The expense to run the program has exceeded the acceptable potential for revenue generated from program fees charged to participants. Further, the Edmonds School District now offers preschool programming which has contributed to a decrease in enrollment and demand for these preschool services.

Q: Will the program finish out the current school year?

A: Yes. The program is scheduled to operate at its high level of service through the 2023-2024 school year. The last day of class is the scheduled program end date, which is Wednesday, June 6, 2024.

Q: Will the city be replacing the program with something similar?

A: That is undetermined at this time.

Q: What will the Meadowdale Clubhouse be used for?

A: The clubhouse will continue to be utilized as a rental space for the public. The City will evaluate the space and potential uses of the space as part of the city-wide Comprehensive Plan update.
