Planning and Development

The Planning and Development Department helps guide how Edmonds grows, builds, and protects its built and natural environment. We provide permit services, land use review, building inspections, code enforcement, long-range planning, and information about zoning, development standards, and active projects.

Through this work, we partner with the community, businesses, and stakeholders to support safe, sustainable, equitable, and thoughtful growth that enhances quality of life.

Washington State will make effective the 2024 editions of the Washington Building Codes on May 3, 2027. Complete permit applications submitted and paid for prior to May 3rd in accordance with ECDC 19.00.025.I can vest to the 2021 editions of the Washington State Building Codes. Applications received on or after May 3rd or those submitted prior that don’t meet the criteria for vesting must be designed to the 2024 editions of the Washington State Building Codes.

Open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday except holidays from 8.30 AM - 12.00 PM, 1.00 PM - 3.00 PM
