“Lunar New Year Edmonds reflects our city’s cultural composition and our commitment to celebrating and honoring diversity as a community,” said Todd Tatum, director of Community Services and Economic Development for the City of Edmonds. “With a lively blend of culture, cuisine, and community, the event encourages everyone to celebrate the Lunar New Year in Edmonds while exploring all Edmonds has to offer.”
Lunar New Year Edmonds grew out of a discussion among members of the Edmonds Diversity Commission about the importance of representation in city-recognized holiday celebrations. A group of Edmonds community members and business owners formed a planning group to launch the first annual Edmonds Lunar New Year celebration in 2022. This group evolved into the Multicultural Association of Edmonds (MAE) which works to foster diverse community representation in Edmonds' traditions and holidays.
