Community Invited: Workshop about Edmonds Hwy 99

Community Invited To Workshop About Edmonds Highway 99 Gateway Signs
Posted on 11/03/2021

The City of Edmonds is in the process of designing gateway signs at the northern and southern city limits on Highway 99 (as part of Hwy 99 Revitalization and Gateway project / Stage 2). This portion of the project is currently in the conceptual design phase. The community is invited to the second online workshop to discuss the new signage on Wednesday, November 17th at 6pm.

The first community workshop took place on August 4th, 2021 to provide general project information about the two gateway signs. Following that meeting and an online survey, the community provided input on their preference regarding the general layout of those signs.

Using this initial feedback, several general gateway design options have been developed. This second community workshop is scheduled for November 17th from 6pm to 7pm where these design options will be presented.

Following the meeting, an online survey will be available allowing the community to select their preferred design option. This survey will take less than 10 minutes to complete and the deadline for completing the survey will be November 31st, 2021.  This input will then enable the design team to begin the design phase on the preferred options.

The gateway signs will be constructed and installed with the upcoming Highway 99 Revitalization & Gateway project (Stage 2). In addition to the gateway signs, the project will convert the existing center two-way left turn lane from 244th Street SW to 212th Street SW to a raised median with mid-block left turn pockets along certain sections. This will also include landscaped median and traffic curb along other sections to improve safety along the entire corridor.

The current schedule is to complete the design phase of this project in early 2022 and the construction phase in late 2022. To learn more about the project, go to the following link: https://www.edmondscorridor99.org/
